And the second Angola airport, made more realistic by Joao Angerino. Add-on scenery and aprons for the default FSX airport.

Fly-area Africa - Angola

MAF has been serving in Angola since 1989 helping Angolans recover from a civil war that lasted from 1975-2002. They are still in Angola to this day and have one Cessna Caravan C-GWOH, (Wings of Hope). They offer safe and efficient travel for church and humanitarian workers in Angola.

You will find Joao Angerino's two addon Angola airports, FNWK, Wako Kungo and FNME, Menongue, in the add-on section at MAFsim.com.

The Fly-areas

To reach a certain amount of realism in the flightsimulation of MAF's flight tasks, we need of course a good 'image' of their real work. This is the first element in the mafsim.com fly-area pages: Information about aspects of MAF's work in specific areas of the world. This information is of course already available at the internet. At MAFsim.com we want to bring together the bits of information from various sources.

The second element at these flight-area pages, is the links to all possible flightsim add-ons related to with MAF's work in that region. Aircraft textures of the planes flying there, add-on scenery of the airports and missions for FSX that enable you to refly the real life jobs of MAF-pilots.

East Congo DRC

Fly-area East Congo DRC is the first in the planned series of fly-areas on Mafsim.com.

Why East Congo first ? Well, a member of our churchcommunity, Annemarie Boks, is a missionary in this area for many years. She involved with the AIDS-project of the church in Bunia. The airport Bunia is frequently mentioned in her presentations. Because of that, I have also been working on the airport add-on for FSX, as first add-on. It is a logical choice to chose this region as the first. Read about her work in East Congo at www.annemarieboks.nl.

First let us introduce you to the pilots who are working here.

New bushplane MAF now also available for Flightsimulator X

The Quest Kodiak 100, developed by Quest Aircraft Company in Sandpoint, Idaho, VS in coöperation with Mission Aviation Fellowship, was already available for FS2004 as a payware-download from www.lionheartcreations.com and Flight1. However, since a few days, FSX pilots can enjoy this beautifull airplane too. It has a lot of versions, float, wheels and skids, with or without cargopod and has many texture-versions available, also the MAF version.

Flying this plane is quite a different experience from the Cessna 208 Caravan. It’s capacity to take off from short runways is amazing.

First add-on from African Inland Airports series

Right at this moment you can find Bunia Airport in Congo DRC in our download-area. It is the first airport in the African Inland Airports series that we intend to create. As soon as you wanna fly in the poorer regions of our world, you will probably notice, there are not many commercial or freeware add-ons for these places. Since this website intents to focus on the work of MAF and the men and women who volunteer to give – often even large - periods of their lives, to serve the people who lack almost everything, it seems a good effort, to create some of the airports, that only aid-organisations like MAF and UN-soldiers get to see. Bunia is created with Flight1’s AFX and Instant Scenery. To add the the road from the airport to the main default FSX road, the fabulous donationware FBuilderX has been used.
