MAF’s immediate response to Sumatra earthquake Within 24 hours of the massive earthquake that shook Sumatra, Indonesia, on 30 September, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) was flying in medical supplies and assisting survey efforts to assess the damage. MAF's Sumatra-based Cessna Caravan carried a relief team from Operation Blessing International (OBI) to the scene of devastation. 
FS2004 pilots had to wait for a long time. Now finally their waiting is over. Accoording to the author of the plane himself, the plane possibly works in FS2002 too.
Recently we received an email from Kars Kroneman. Kars is an aviation student at Moody Aviation mission pilot school. Here pilots are trained during a period of five years (!) to learn all they need to be a professional mission pilot. Kars is married with Missy and together they go for a future somewere in a country were they will serve the people, thereby expressing the love of God. Kars is as kind as to grand us permission to use info and pictures on his excellent blog. 
Daniel Wanvig, our pioneer on MAF paintings for default aircraft, has created a second piece of art. As a matter of fact several weeks ago allready, he sent me this repaint for the default FS2004 Cessna 208B Caravan on floats. There is a freeware FSX conversion of this plane, available on the bigger flightsim sites, so FSX users, rejoice too.
MAF Africas main base airport is Wilson Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Countries that MAF serves regularly are Kenya itself, Somalia and Sudan. Less often, work is to be done in Congo and Burundi too.
As announced in earlier news, MAFsim.com and the Dutch fundraisingaction for MAF "Vliegen om te Helpen" (Flying to Help), have been present at the International FSWeekend 2009 in the Aviation Museum "Aviodrome" in Lelystad, the Netherlands. 
Past weekend, November 7 and 8, we had a presentationstand at this among Flightsimmers in Europe well known event. 
Since there are so many MAF related freeware downloads available on the various large flightsimulator sites, it appears impossible to ask for permission to the authors to upload their work and offer it for download at MAFsim.com. It simply takes to much time and costs to much work. As an alternative for offering those downloads, I intent to publish regularly a overview of the probably interesting stuff on the various websites. And ofcourse, if you see more, let me know.
We have a new pionier person in Daniel Wanvig. He may call himself the first one that created a MAF texture for one of the default FSX planes and ofcourse - for MAF - the one he chose, is the one it should be: the Cessna 208B Caravan. Daniel did only a few repaints untill nu, but regarding his enthousiasm, it,is not unlikely we will see more of his hand... 
Scenery Tech, a company that has allready released several other landclass products for FSX, recenty announced the availability of their newest product: the Africa Landclass. Although more manufacturers offer landclass products, the admirable thing about Scenery Techs landclass series is, they do not restrict themselves to the rich regions of our world. 
Pacific Island Scenery, allready known from the add ons "Raw Grit: PNG Bushpilot" and "Extreme Bush Trekker", now upgraded and joined both products and offers them with the new combined title "Raw Grit: PNG Bushpilot" Those who already have one of the former two add ons, can receive the new product for free. That's a valuable present, because the current prize in the various flightsim shops is reasonable for the product PIS delivers.
